Several construction phases beginning in July will affect traffic and parking on Clemson University’s main campus. Up-to-date information on these and other projects are available on the University Facilities Construction Map.
Avenue of Champions Closure
The southern section of Avenue of Champions along the north stands of Memorial Stadium will close on Thursday, July 11, for repaving. The closure is expected to last through Friday, July 12.
Cherry Road Closure
The current phase of the Cherry Road Underground Utility Crossings project is expected to be completed by the end of this week. Barring inclement weather delays, Cherry Road will be fully open on Monday, July 15, but another closure will be required this summer to install steam piping.
Old Stadium Road Single Lane Closure
Beginning July 29, northbound Old Stadium Road will be reduced to a single lane at the intersection of Perimeter Road while contractors install traffic signals and drainage along the roadway. The project is expected to take one week to complete.
McGregor Road Repaving
Beginning July 22, McGregor Road will be repaved from Hugo Drive to Seneca Creek Road. A single lane will be paved at a time allowing the other lane to remain open for traffic.
Old Stadium Road Repaving
Beginning July 22, Old Stadium Road will be repaved this summer from the C-14 parking lot entrance to the intersection of Cherry Road. A single lane will be paved at a time allowing the other lane to remain open for traffic.
C2-A Lot Closure
The C2-A commuter parking lot located on Williamson Road near Highway 93 has been permanently closed to accommodate the West Campus Energy Plant expansion. This expansion will increase chilled water capacity and support future campus growth.
Starkey Drive Closure
A section of Starkey Drive has closed between W. Queen St. and Highway 122 to accommodate the College of Veterinary Medicine project. The road is scheduled to reopen upon the project’s completion in August 2026.
