Clemson vice president establishes Miller Family Endowment for the Student Experience

Share:

Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Chris Miller is taking direct action to enhance the student experience at Clemson University. He and his wife, Julie, recently committed $50,000 to establish the Miller Family Endowment for the Student Experience.

Miller was appointed interim vice president in 2019 and named to the full-time position in 2021. During his tenure, Clemson has significantly enhanced the student experience — which includes the opening of Samuel J. Cadden Chapel and expansion of the Snow Family Outdoor Fitness and Wellness Complex.

“It’s often said that there’s something in these hills,” says Miller, who came to Clemson in 2015 as dean of students. “Having been here for eight years, that’s been solidified for me and my family. Two of our children have attended Clemson, and the University’s mission and culture has truly resonated with us. We believe in what we’re trying to do by way of creating the No. 1 student experience. This work is impactful, and we wanted to be able to contribute in a meaningful way.”

Contributions to the endowment will provide funding for enhanced and broadened student experiences, including but not limited to programs, services, engagement opportunities, experiential learning and emergent needs. One donor has already pledged a match of the Miller Family’s $50,000 investment.

“I am fortunate to work alongside Chris Miller for the betterment of Clemson University as a fellow vice president,” says Vice President for Advancement Brian O’Rourke. “I see firsthand his direct impact on Clemson students daily through his leadership of Student Affairs and his dedication to the Clemson Experience. Establishing this endowment will build upon this impact and ensure that our students have that special experience that only Clemson can provide. We are forever grateful for Chris’ leadership, thoughtfulness and generosity.”
