Clemson Rural Health will serve the Clemson community — on and off campus — through its primary care clinic, Clemson Community Primary Care (CCPC). Located in Edwards Hall, the clinic will deliver health care services to Clemson faculty, staff and community members. The Joseph F. Sullivan Center (JFSC) will operate within the CCPC to provide wellness services and experiential learning opportunities for students in health-related disciplines.
“Our vision to transform health outcomes extends far beyond the boundaries of campus,” said Ron Gimbel, professor and director of Clemson Rural Health. “While we improve health outcomes for communities across South Carolina, we also want to serve individuals in our own backyard. This starts with Clemson Community Primary Care, a clinic that serves the residents of Pickens and Oconee Counties, as well as Clemson University faculty and staff.”
Since 2019, Clemson Rural Health has built an innovative, statewide rural health care delivery system which currently includes three primary care clinics, robust telehealth services and a fleet of mobile health units.
The Joseph F. Sullivan Center has served Clemson employees since 1992 — when it was founded through a generous donation by BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina on behalf of the former chief executive officer and Chairman Emeritus, Joseph F. Sullivan. Last year, the JFSC coordinated more than 2,500 hours of hands-on learning experiences for students in local communities.
According to Gimbel, this change will not affect the range of patient services or available student opportunities.
“The change allows us to better convey our dedication to providing care for Clemson University faculty and staff and the broader Clemson community,” said Gimbel.
Clemson Community Primary Care is currently accepting new patients. Patients will have access to primary care, acute care, nutrition, dermatology services and more at the on-campus location. Students interested in participating in clinical experiences are encouraged to apply online.
