New students, families and guests are headed to Clemson University’s main campus over 11 sessions in June and July for Ready, Set, Roar!, a two-day in-person Orientation experience. Ready, Set, Roar! complements a student’s virtual orientation, which includes academic advising and course registration.
“Students who attend Ready, Set, Roar! connect to campus, to their academic college and to each other,” says Casey Ford, interim director of student transitions. “Ultimately, the program prepares students to be successful in their transition to college while also giving families and guests a glimpse of what to expect at Clemson.”
Ready, Set, Roar! intentionally pairs students together from the same academic colleges and summer start programs. The experience includes a welcome from University administration, an introduction to academic success, “Tiger Talks” with Orientation Ambassadors and parent volunteers, a showcase featuring campus organizations and departments, small group time and social activities.
Ready, Set, Roar! saw 1,767 students and more than 2,500 guests opt for an in-person experience in 2023. Assessment data indicates Clemson students and guests enjoy the experience. Ninety-seven and a half percent of students who responded to the 2023 post-event survey agreed or strongly agreed they felt prepared to invest in the Clemson Experience.
Students who sign up for Ready, Set, Roar! take part in an evening social to conclude the first day. Parents and guests who sign up are invited to a social in the Masters Club, located on the fourth floor of the west endzone in Memorial Stadium. Additionally, several dozen campus representatives and off-campus partners are available to meet with students and families during a community showcase and answer questions in advance of the 2024-25 academic year.
