Clemson 2022 United Way recap

Share:

This year’s United Way campaign smashed last year’s numbers by more than $8,000 despite being half as long as previous years – three weeks instead of six. Building on former campaign leader Leslie Doss’s decade of work growing the program, this year’s campaign total to date is just shy of $99,000, while last year’s total came to just over $90,887. The 2022 campaign also had four times as many new donors (68) as 2021, which had 17.

“I am so encouraged and humbled by Clemson University’s generous efforts to improve the lives of families and individuals in our communities through the 2022 Clemson University United Way Campaign,” said Lyndy Schonhar, director of corporate engagement at United Way of Pickens County. “As a native of the Upstate, I know that Clemson University has been making communities across our state a better place for many years, inside and outside of the United Way Campaign. On behalf of United Way of Pickens County and many United Ways across the state, we are so thankful for Clemson’s Executive Leadership Team who drive and support this campaign; Clemson’s campaign coordinators who volunteer their time, efforts, and brainpower to make sure the United Way Campaign runs smoothly; and Clemson employees who give generously because they care about neighbors in their communities. Thank you, Clemson University, for Living United!”

This year, organizers introduced special drop-in events around campus during lunch hour that proved to be extremely popular. They were focused on unique areas of campus: The Watt Center rooftop terrace, the Softball Stadium and the President and First Lady’s Suite in Memorial Stadium.

Aramark and the Watt Center made significant in-kind donations, and this year’s campaign coordinators wish to share their appreciation to both groups.

Some other 2022 campaign totals:
