Campus Recreation is holding “Rec Day” on main campus Friday, Feb. 24. A wide range of activities and events have been planned throughout the day and will be available to students, faculty and staff with Campus Rec memberships.

“We’ve held Rec Day and Member Appreciation Day in the past and believe this will offer our members a fun opportunity to enjoy events at the halfway point between the beginning of the semester and Spring Break,” said Vicki Roberts, associate director of member services for Campus Rec.

Recreational Sports & Fitness Day commemorates the founding of NIRSA — the national association for Campus Recreation professionals — in 1950. Schools, companies and associations across North America celebrate campus recreation through the promotion of health, activity, competition and inclusivity.

Campus Rec will be giving away t-shirts, rally towels and snacks as events get underway at Andy Quattlebaum Outdoor Education Center at the Snow Complex and Swann Fitness Center at Fike. The TigerFit trailer will be on-site at Andy’s, where members can do a combination of cardiovascular and resistance/strength-based training in a prescribed fashion.

A wheelchair basketball showcase and pickleball competition will be held at Fike. Additionally, paddleboard jousting will take place in the dive well of the natatorium at Fike.

Yard games will be available at both locations.

Interested participants are asked to register through IM Leagues in the Campus Recreation member portal for wheelchair basketball, pickleball and paddleboard jousting.
