During the February meeting of the Board of Trustees, Interim Vice President and Chief Information Officer Brian Voss was moved from interim to permanent status in his leadership position. The Compensation Committee of the Clemson Board of Trustees approved this change, effective immediately. Voss previously served as Clemson’s interim CIO in 2016-17.

“Brian’s leadership as interim CIO together with the diligent work of Clemson’s Computing and Information Technology (CCIT) team have resulted in significant upgrades to Clemson’s cybersecurity and network infrastructure, and continued improvements in our IT-based business systems,” Provost Jones said. “Brian’s team has also provided stellar support during the University response to COVID-19, including several key design solutions that allowed the University to maintain in-person instruction.”

Prior to becoming interim VP/CIO at Clemson in July 2021, Voss had spent three years as the vice president for information technology and CIO at the University of Maryland. There, he was responsible for IT strategy, infrastructure and services and leading the campus central IT organization. Voss also has worked at Louisiana State University, Indiana University, Mead Data Central and Westinghouse Electric. He has served on the board of directors for EDUCAUSE, National LambdaRail and the Kuali Foundation.
