2019 United Way campaign raises $4K more than previous year

Clemson University raised $123,688.32 for the United Way in 2019, $4,182.36 more than in the previous year. More than 478 faculty and staff members contributed to the annual campaign.

United Way has a mission to “improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good.” Julie Capaldi, the president of United Way in Pickens County, credits Clemson University for its fundraising success and the positive impact the campaign has on the surrounding community.

“We are so grateful that the Clemson University family cares about communities all across South Carolina. Through Clemson’s generous support of United Way, individuals and families in crisis are helped, children who are hungry and struggling in school are supported, and communities are strengthened,” Capaldi said.

“Clemson University’s campaign is one of the top workplace campaigns in Pickens County,” she said. “Without their support, many people in need would not receive the services they so desperately need.”
