Recently, a Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business faculty member received the Distinguished Doctoral Mentoring Award for his dedication to mentoring doctoral students.
On behalf of the Clemson University Graduate School and its Graduate Award Fellowships Committee for his mentorship service, William J Kettinger, Ph.D., William S. Lee Distinguished Professor of Management Information Systems, was awarded in May of this year.
To be selected as the Distinguished Doctoral Mentoring Award recipient, a faculty member must serve several years as the dissertation committee chair for a doctoral student, supporting the student throughout obtaining their academic goals.
Ali Shirzadi Babakan, Ph.D. candidate in the Information Systems Department of Management, shares his gratitude for Kettinger. “Dr. Kettinger’s exceptional mentorship has been the cornerstone of my academic and professional development. His commitment to fostering research excellence, enhancing teaching skills and preparing his students for successful academic careers deserves recognition.”
Similarly, Pranith Abbaraju, a Ph.D. candidate in the Information Systems Department of Management, also said that the support Kettinger’s mentorship provided him was significant. “Dr. Kettinger was a big reason I chose to come to Clemson University. I still remember my first meeting with him in the Greenville ONE building. His advice and encouragement greatly impacted my decision to pursue a doctoral degree, and I’ve been grateful for his support ever since.”
