Welcome to a new academic year at Clemson University!
Summer is always a busy season across campus, and this year was no exception. Just last week, we celebrated more than 1,000 students who earned their Clemson degrees. Watching our newest graduates cross the stage was a powerful reminder of what makes this University so special. While we will miss seeing them on campus, we are excited to follow the many ways they will lead, serve and make a difference in the years ahead.
Last week also marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Clemson as we welcomed President Benjamin Ayers to our University community. Our team in Student Affairs looks forward to working alongside President Ayers to ensure your Clemson experience is second to none.
This week, campus comes alive once again as we welcome thousands of students home. As a former housing professional, Move-In is one of my favorite times of the year because it is filled with excitement, anticipation and the joy shared by families, friends and supporters who have helped you reach this moment. To our newest Tigers, welcome to the Clemson Family! I encourage you to take full advantage of Weeks of Welcome, a series of intentional programs and events designed to help you connect with others, discover campus resources and begin building a strong sense of community.
In the days ahead, we’ll gather for some of Clemson’s most well-known fall traditions — from Convocation and the President’s Cookout to the Welcome Back Festival — as we officially begin another academic year. One new tradition I especially enjoy is the first day of classes, when students gather with friends to capture photos in front of the FDOC marquee letters. Those moments remind us that some of the best memories you’ll make at Clemson often begin with simple experiences shared together.
To our returning students, thank you for the resilience, determination and leadership you continue to demonstrate. Whether you’re pursuing academic excellence, participating in student organizations, conducting research, competing, serving others or preparing for your next chapter, know that we are here to support you every step of the way.
Above all, remember that you are never alone in your Clemson journey. If I can ever be of assistance, I encourage you to contact my office and schedule a time to stop by Sikes Hall. I may not always be the final destination for the answers you need, but I can help you begin finding the people and resources that will support your success.
