Editor’s note: This is the latest installment in our series of “Student Affairs Talk” podcasts. In it, Communications Director for Student Affairs Philip Sikes visits with various leaders from the staff and student communities. This week’s featured guest is Morgan Witherspoon, a senior industrial engineering major from Fort Mill, South Carolina.
—
Morgan Witherspoon isn’t your traditional college student. She came to the Upstate of South Carolina with a good idea of what she wanted to do. After her sister succumbed to brain cancer when she was just 9 years old, Witherspoon had a strong desire to give back and ultimately continue her legacy by helping the local Children’s Miracle Network hospital.
Witherspoon joined the morale team within Clemson Miracle, which celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2019, when she was a freshman. Two years later, she was named the organization’s executive director. In that role, she leads the planning and execution of the annual “Dance Marathon,” a 12-hour event which serves as the signature fundraising element for Clemson Miracle. This year’s marathon is fast approaching on Saturday, March 2, and she shares plenty of details of the special event and her entire Clemson experience in our latest podcast.
