Editor’s Note: This is the latest installment of the “Student Affairs Talk” podcast for 2021-22. Communications Director for Student Affairs Philip Sikes visits with various leaders from the staff and student communities. This week’s guest is Aly Ruhl, assistant director of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

Aly Ruhl joined the Clemson Family in November 2019, but her experience to this point has been anything but typical for a Student Affairs practitioner. As assistant director over Panhellenic within the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, Ruhl is charged with overseeing Recruitment — the annual period where potential new members meet with Greek organizations on campus.

In 2020, Recruitment was entirely virtual. This time around, however, Ruhl is helping ensure a seamless process as Recruitment has returned in-person to Clemson’s campus. More than 1,500 women are going through Recruitment this week, ending with Bid Day on Sunday, Aug. 29.

Ruhl spoke at length about her initial takeaways on the Clemson experience, how she became interested in the student affairs profession and some of her previous professional stops.
