Staff Senate is officially accepting nominations for Senate seats that will become available in May.

The Senate membership committee has sent out nomination forms and information to staff working in budget centers that have seats available. The eligible budget centers are: Athletics; College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Life Sciences; College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences; Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business; Development & Alumni Relations; Facilities; Libraries; Research & Economic Development; and Financial Affairs.

Susan Whorton, Staff Senate president and director of the Class of 1956 Academic Success Center, is excited to welcome new senators in May.

“If there is an open seat in your budget center and you are looking for a leadership opportunity and the chance to network and connect with colleagues across campus, I strongly encourage you to consider running for election to represent your budget center,” Whorton said.

“Serving on the Senate as a senator, executive committee member and president has been a highlight of my Clemson career. If you are looking to take your engagement and service to the University to the next level, please think about running for Staff Senate.”

Those interested in becoming a part of Staff Senate may submit a nomination for themselves or a staff colleague by noon Friday, March 5. To qualify for a nomination to Staff Senate, staff members must have been employed by Clemson for 12 months in a full-time capacity in a full-time equivalent (FTE), time-limited (TLP) or temporary grant (TGP) position and be in good standing with the University.
