SCIENCE reflects, looks forward, and celebrates at spring business and awards ceremony

CLEMSON – The 2019 College of Science Business Meeting and Awards Ceremony was held Monday, May 6 in Holtzendorff Auditorium.

More than 100 attended the celebratory event, which included committee reports, College-wide updates, unit updates and College faculty and staff awards. A festive reception followed the main event.

The faculty awards were presented by Amy Pope, senior lecturer in the department of physics and astronomy. They are shown here:

EXCELLENCE IN STUDENT ENGAGEMENT: Michael Childress, associate professor of biological sciences.

EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING: Kristi Whitehead, senior lecturer of biological sciences.

RISING STAR IN DISCOVERY: Marco Ajello, assistant professor of physics and astronomy.

EXCELLENCE IN DISCOVERY: Joseph Kolis, professor of chemistry.

The staff awards were presented by Joey Thames, student services manager for genetics and biochemistry. They are listed here:

OUTSTANDING STAFF MEMBER: Lynn Callahan, administrative assistant for mathematical and statistical sciences.

OUTSTANDING STAFF MEMBER: Londan Means, student services manager for biological sciences.

HATTIE B. WAGENER AWARD: Ginger Foulk, project coordinator for biological sciences.
