Clemson University’s Presidential Search Committee held its first meeting Thursday, Dec. 18, with Board of Trustees Chair Kim Wilkerson charging the seven-member committee chaired by Trustee Cheri Phyfer ’93 to conduct a national search to identify Clemson’s 16th president.
“I want to thank the members of this committee both for volunteering to serve on this committee and for their commitment to including the voices of our entire Clemson Family in this process,” said Chair Wilkerson.
At its first meeting, the Presidential Search Committee selected Antonis Katsiyannis, Alumni Distinguished Professor in the College of Education, Faculty Athletics Representative and former Faculty Senate President, as the faculty representative to the search committee.
Additionally, Committee Chair Phyfer announced the selection of Funk Associates as the search firm.
Trustee Mark Richardson ’83 has been tasked with conducting stakeholder meetings and interviews to ensure the campus community’s input into the process prior to the finalization of a position description and criteria for the search. Trustee Richardson will meet with the faculty and staff senates, student governments, affiliated organizations including the Alumni Association, IPTAY, the Board of Visitors, Clemson University Foundation, Clemson University Research Foundation and community representatives – among others.
The search committee reinforced its commitment to communicate with Clemson students, faculty, staff, alumni and the public throughout the process, and will meet again in mid-January.
