Faculty, staff and students are invited to nominate deserving individuals for six prestigious awards that recognize both students and non-students for exemplary academic performance, leadership and service to Clemson University and the broader community.
The window for nominations is currently open with the following submission deadlines:
Feb. 3, 2023 – STUDENT NOMINATIONS CLOSE
Feb. 17, 2023 – NON-STUDENT NOMINATIONS CLOSE
Students may be nominated for multiple awards, but supporting documentation must be submitted separately for each award. Students may self-nominate or be nominated by a Clemson University faculty member, staff member or student.
Award descriptions and eligibility requirements are listed below.
STUDENT AWARDS
Norris Medal: Considered the most prestigious undergraduate student award, the honor is given to the best all-around graduating senior.
Matt Locke Leadership Award: Presented to one student for outstanding leadership with regard to service and devotion to humankind and Clemson University.
Frank A. Burtner Scholarship: Presented to rising juniors and seniors at Clemson University who display exemplary leadership qualities and an outstanding academic record.
Algernon Sydney Sullivan Student Award: Presented to two students from the graduating class for outstanding service to Clemson University and the extended Clemson community.
NON-STUDENT AWARDS
Frank A. Burtner Award for Excellence in Advising: Awarded to a faculty or staff member who excels in developing students in the areas of leadership, devotion to duty and service while serving as an advisor to students or student organizations (academic or non-academic).
Algernon Sydney Sullivan Non-Student Award: Given in recognition of the recipient’s influence for good, excellence in maintaining high ideals of living and service before self.
