Clemson University faculty and staff may carry over a maximum of 45 days of annual leave and 180 days of sick leave from one calendar year to the next. Employees with accrued annual and/or sick leave beyond the maximum are encouraged to donate excess leave to the Clemson University Transfer (Pool) Program.
The Leave Transfer (Pool) Program helps support eligible Clemson employees who have exhausted their paid leave balances due to catastrophic illness or injury.

- Employees can use no more than 30 days and carry over no more than 45 days of annual leave in a calendar year.
- On January 1, 2023, employees automatically forfeit any annual leave accruals above the maximum (45 days).
- Employees can donate up to 50 percent of the sick leave they are eligible to earn in a calendar year and must retain at least 15 days of sick leave.
- On January 1, 2023, employees automatically forfeit any sick leave accruals above the maximum (180 days).
