Division of Marketing and Communications updates Clemson University’s brand standards

On Friday, November 15, 2024, the Division of Marketing and Communications (MarCom) launched the University’s updated Brand Standards, the single most comprehensive set of resources available for faculty, staff and students who are embarking on new Clemson-related campaigns or communications.

Thoughtfully curated, the website’s opening page, with its 10 easily accessible tiles, offers first-time users easy navigation to what they need.

Protecting Clemson’s brand identity is important, and it starts with understanding the overall philosophy that centers around consistency and authenticity and takes in brand value, voice and differentiators. Learn more about Brand Identity.

To maintain brand consistency, Clemson has adopted a five-level system to clarify logos and wordmarks, and logo variations must be approved by MarCom. Learn more about Logos and Wordmark Guidelines and Standards.

Exciting additions to the Brand Standards are the Video and Motion and Photography sections under the Imagery tile. Users can scroll to the bottom of the page of the Photography archive to access an array of Clemson photography through SmugMug and Canto. Learn more about Imagery.

Adding design elements to communications creates interest and increases understanding of complex ideas. Sections on Illustrations, Data Visualization, Grid Systems and Iconography with access to important tools for the user’s toolbox, such as Datawrapper, are all housed online under Design Elements. The Clemson University Style Guide ensures a clear, consistent presentation across all written communication. The Fact Guide is up to date, and the Style Guide has been alphabetized rather than organized by category, mirroring the organization of the AP Stylebook. Learn more about Writing.
