A Message from the President: Fall Campus Update

Share:

Dear Clemson Family,

I hope you are having a wonderful Fall Semester and are enjoying the beauty that the Fall season brings. This past weekend we celebrated Homecoming, and I was thrilled to see so many of our Tigers and their families on our main campus to enjoy the festivities. From building floats on Bowman Field, completing a Habitat House, kicking off Tigerama, crowning our Homecoming queen, enjoying time with friends and family and winning our matchup in football against Wake Forest University, this weekend was one for the books.

This weekend was also our breast cancer awareness game and many of our Tigers wore their pink and orange to support breast cancer research and to honor those who have fought or are fighting breast cancer. As you can see, the student section was ALL-IN for our pink-out game. Clemson faculty, like Dr. Heather Dunn, are also conducting much-needed breast cancer research and are working to improve health outcomes for those affected or most at-risk. And this month, we are also hosting a mobile mammography bus on our main-campus for employees to schedule a free breast cancer screening.

Last week, we held our Quarterly Meetings of the Clemson University Board of Trustees, where Trustees approved many key projects from academics to facilities, including the creation of the Clemson University Extension Center for Health Outreach (CU-ECHO), a new Master of Education in Learning Services, and Phase 1 of a parking garage on main-campus which will provide parking for students, faculty, staff, alumni and visitors. In addition, the Board of Trustees also unanimously elected a Vice Chair, Trustee Nicky McCarter. We are grateful for the Board of Trustees continued leadership and commitment to elevating Clemson University.

Our faculty and students are focused on finishing midterms this week and then enjoying a much-deserved fall break. It’s hard to believe that we are halfway through the semester, and I hope you will continue to make the most of each day. Whether you are a student, faculty, staff, alumni, community member or friend, you are all part of our incredible Clemson community and we wouldn’t be who we are without you. Together, we are continuing to elevate Clemson University even further, transforming and impacting lives through the power of education across South Carolina and beyond.

I hope you have a wonderful second half of the semester and fall season.

Go Tigers!
