LaShanda Scott serves as the Campus and Community Engagement Program Manager for the Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine at Clemson University. (PCVM) A proud Clemson alumna (Animal and Veterinary Sciences, ’01), Scott returns to her alma mater with more than a decade of experience in student affairs and a strong commitment to cultivating a welcoming environment for all DVM students.

“Clemson feels like home, and Veterinary Medicine remains close to my heart,” said Scott. “This opportunity allows me to bring home and heart together again. I’ve experienced firsthand what makes this place special, and that’s a deep sense of community, pride and support that stays with you long after you graduate. My Clemson experience has been the catalyst to a fulfilling career in student support services. I’m grateful that all roads on my career journey led me back home, where it all started.”

Scott says that the Campus and Community Engagement position provides her a unique opportunity to merge her knowledge of Clemson University’s culture with her professional experience and education in order to shape a unique culture for the PCVM.

“I am excited about the opportunity to collaborate with campus and community stakeholders to support and develop a thriving student body and CVM community. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves to help create a meaningful student experience that reflects an inclusive culture of belonging at Clemson. I’m especially looking forward to helping establish some of the signature moments, new traditions and milestones that will be unique to the PCVM and part of our identity for years to come.”

Scott sees herself as both a bridge and a builder of a thriving student culture. She hopes to foster campus-wide collaboration that will create the number one student experience. Additionally, she hopes to spearhead initiatives that reflect the best of what the entire PCVM community will embody.

“I want to help create an environment where everyone feels empowered to thrive. My goal is to infuse community-building and belonging into everyday life at the PCVM. I will be someone who listens deeply, leads thoughtfully and helps keep our students at the heart of the work. I will be an advocate for the veterinarians that will, in turn, advocate and care for people and their animals in the community.”

Scott is from Columbia, South Carolina. She enjoys spending time with family, visiting friends, live music, traveling and supporting collegiate sports. Go Tigers!
