Clemson University faculty and staff have an opportunity to serve one of the University’s most valued constituencies: its veterans.

The Veterans Commission is seeking nominations to fill four open seats. The terms are three years. One seat is reserved for a faculty member and two seats are reserved for students (graduate or undergraduate) in accordance to Commission bylaws. The fourth seat is not reserved and will be filled based on the needs of the Commission. Interested faculty and staff are encouraged to fill out the Veterans Commission Application form by June 1.

The Veterans Commission advises University administrators, faculty, staff and students on matters affecting veterans and their families. The Commission reports to the Council for Diversity and Inclusion, co-chaired by Chief Inclusion and Equity Officer Lee Gill and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Bob Jones. Meetings are held during the fall and spring semesters.

Clemson has a rich military history. Since classes began in 1893, the value of a solid military force has been a major part of its education. Clemson supplied more army officers for World War II than any other institution except West Point and Texas A&M. Clemson once had the largest infantry ROTC unit in the country. Today, Clemson’s commitment to its veterans, active duty service members and ROTC cadets remains a hallmark of its identity.
