The South Carolina Botanical Garden will hold its annual Fall Plant Sale from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 154 Lacecap Loop in the garden’s operations section off Perimeter Road in Clemson, South Carolina.
Friday’s sale is open exclusively to members of Friends of the Garden. Memberships can be purchased at the gate or online at https://iamatiger.clemson.edu/giving/scbg. The sale opens to the public on Saturday.
“Our semi-annual plant sales, held each fall and spring, are a major source of revenue for the South Carolina Botanical Garden,” said Misty Shealy, nursery manager at the garden. “Proceeds from the sale support special projects that wouldn’t be possible without this funding. We welcome everyone back to the garden.”
The sale will feature a wide selection of plants, including trees, shrubs, fruits, berries, grasses, bog plants, perennials, and ferns. Both native and landscape plants will be available, with selections prepared by garden volunteers and staff.
Attendees are asked to follow signs posted at the garden entrances, leading them to the nursery. Parking will be outside the gate, and staff will be on-site to assist. A limited number of carts will be available, or shoppers can bring their own. Volunteers will hold purchased items at the checkout tents while customers continue to browse.
Once shoppers are ready to check out, volunteers will provide a ticket to present at the cashier, where cash, checks, and credit cards will be accepted. Customers can then drive their vehicles to the checkout area, where volunteers will load their plants.
Homeowners looking to care for their new plants can visit the Clemson Extension Home and Garden Information Center website for tips.
In addition to the plant sale, educational opportunities will be available. Garden staff and master gardeners will be on hand both days to assist with plant selections.
A catalog of available plants can be found at https://bit.ly/2024_SCBG_Fall_Plant_Sale_Catalog.
Catalogs will also be available at the gate.
