School of Architecture unveils 2021 fall lecture series

Change! Architectural Experiments in a Changing Society is the title of the Clemson University School of Architecture’s fall lecture series, which kicks off on Monday, August 23. The series is presented by the School of Architecture, the Clemson Architectural Foundation and the Clemson Architecture Center, Charleston.

“The intensity of the events from the last few years have created a feeling of both uncertainty and hope about the future of society,” said David Franco, associate professor of Architecture, who organized the series. “Our speakers will present ideas and projects from different perspectives—racial, urban and tectonic among others—that imagine the built environment as an open and changeable territory, leveraging the inherent optimism of design and overcoming the passivity of critique.”

Lecturers from across the globe representing a variety of architectural styles will present both on Clemson’s main campus and at the Clemson Design Center, Charleston. Each lecture will be delivered in person and streamed online. See below for a full list of times, locations, and speakers.
