  • Phased Return to Workplace Continues Through April 5
  • Negative COVID Test Required Before Return
  • Supervisors to Evaluate Workspace and Schedule Returns

In accordance with Governor McMaster’s Executive Order 2021-12, and at the direction of the State’s Department of Administration, Clemson University has developed its plan for the safe and expedited return of faculty and staff to their workplace.

We understand many of our employees had not planned to return to the workplace this soon, but the University, as a state agency, must act in accordance with the governor’s executive order. Please know Clemson will continue to do everything possible to ensure the health and safety of faculty and staff throughout this process and after our full return to the workplace.

A number of employees with private offices who haven’t already returned will be asked to return to the workplace beginning March 15. Supervisors are instructed to determine the safety of workspaces and the needs of their areas.

During the week of March 29, workspaces will be made available for the return of all employees without special considerations (high-risk health concerns, childcare, dependent care, etc.). Spaces will be configured in accordance with OSHA and CDC guidelines, and the University will prioritize employee safety.

On April 5, following workspace modifications required by OSHA and CDC guidelines, all employees who are primary caregivers for children or vulnerable adults who have secured alternative caregiver arrangements will return to the workplace.

Further details related to Clemson’s return to the workplace plan will be communicated to supervisors, and more information is available on the University’s COVID website.

TESTING

The University requires all employees and students who plan to access main campus to receive a negative COVID-19 test (or subsequent clearance after testing positive) prior to accessing any facility, including classrooms, fitness centers, study space and athletics venues.

Complete testing information is available on the testing information page of the University’s COVID Website, including links to register for testing on main campus as well as locations across the state. Registration is required prior to testing to ensure available capacity.
