Craig Wallace named business management chair at Clemson University

CLEMSON, S.C. — Craig Wallace of the University of Denver will become the new Department of Management chair in Clemson University’s College of Business.

Wallace most recently served as the management chair at University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business, where he overhauled the Masters of Science in Management Program to focus on global leadership, and strategically guided the launch of the executive doctoral program. He joins the College of Business at Clemson as Dean Wendy York’s first departmental leadership hire.

Wallace will take the Department of Management reins at the start of the fall semester. He replaces Sri Sridharan, who has held the department chair since 2007, and is returning to a full-time faculty position in the College of Business.

“In Craig Wallace, the College of Business is getting an energetic educator with impressive research and leadership credentials,” said York, who was named the dean in June of 2018. “Craig has shown himself to be an effective and dynamic leader in positions at Oklahoma State University and the University of Denver. I’m very confident in his ability to lead and mentor our faculty and students, and to raise the stature of our undergraduate and graduate management programs.”

Wallace received his Ph.D., at the Georgia Institute of Technology after having earned a master’s degree at the University of West Florida and a bachelor’s degree at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.

His research has been published in the Journal of Management, Journal of Business and Psychology, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior and Organizational Psychology Review. He has served two terms as associate editor for the Journal of Management and is a fellow in the Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychology.

Wallace’s research concentrates on predicting, explaining and enhancing performance and effectiveness at the individual and group levels of an organization. His studies attempt to assist organizations in creating a work environment that is conducive physically and psychologically to all employees so to positively impact all stakeholders.

Having been raised on the other side of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Craig and his wife, Jerae, are equally excited to return to the area to raise their three children.
