BLACKVILLE, S.C. – Clemson Extension is offering a free virtual engagement series to help forage and livestock producers in the southeastern United States learn how to enhance the resilience of their systems to extreme weather events.
The series, “Building Resilience in Forage and Livestock Systems,” is a partnership with the USDA Climate Hub and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.
Experts will share ways farmers can plan for and recover after bad weather. Topics will include keeping livestock healthy, managing pastures and finding helpful resources. A roundtable session will let farmers ask questions and discuss ideas.
Each webinar runs from noon to 1 p.m. Participation is free, but registration is required through Eventbrite.
The sessions are:
July 29 – Livestock health and management. Planning ahead and dealing with the aftermath under extreme weather events.
July 31 – Enhancing forage resilience under extreme weather conditions. Enhancing forage-livestock operations sustainability and resilience against extreme weather conditions, and managing impacted hayfields for renovation or replanting.
Aug. 5 – Resources from USDA and NRCS for weather challenges.
Aug. 7 – Roundtable: Building resilience to forage-livestock operations.
