Clemson CollabFest celebrates creativity with keynote from SwissMiss designer Tina Roth Eisenberg

CLEMSON — From Wednesday, Feb. 27, through Saturday, March 2, the CollabFest at Clemson University will celebrate creativity with a slate of art, film, technology and food events that seek to inspire, entertain and educate.

CollabFest logo - white background with branded lettering for CollabFestFamed designer Tina Roth Eisenberg will deliver the festival’s keynote at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, in the Watt Family Innovation Center.

CollabFest was created by a collective group of departments across campus to provide the Clemson community with an opportunity to engage with the university and showcase the many talents of their students, faculty, staff and partners.

From panel discussions and workshops, art exhibits to film screenings, guests are invited to attend a number of events. Most are free and open to the public, although some will require registration or a purchased ticket.

Events include, but are not limited to:

Wednesday, Feb. 27:

  • “The New York Times & Disability Poetics: A Conversation”
    New York Times editor Peter Catapano, poet Khadijah Queen and Clemson associate professor Jillian Weise
    talk about selecting poems for a Times feature on disability poetics.
    3 p.m., Watt Auditorium
  • Mariannes Noires: Global Awareness Film and Discussion Series
    This documentary takes viewers through the lives of seven French-born women of African descent as they confirm their unique identities and challenge the expectations of French society.
    6-9 p.m., McKissick Theatre, Hendrix Student Center
  • Campus Movie Fest Film screening
    View the top 16 films submitted to the festival.
    7-10 p.m., Littlejohn Coliseum

Thursday, Feb. 28:

  • Adobe Technology Showcase Day
    The event will feature a series of product presentations focused on mobile workflows for UX, video, creative imaging and graphic design with presenters:
            Terry White – Principal Worldwide Design and Photography Evangelist
            Tara Knight – Strategic Development Manager, Creative Cloud Design
            Chris Stuart –Clemson’s rhetoric, communication and information design program.
    8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Watt Family Innovation Center
  • Collabfest keynote with Tina Roth-Eisenberg
    The New York-based designer is best known for founding the Swiss Miss design blog and studio and as the founder of Friends Work Here, CreativeMornings, TeuxDeux and Tattly
    5 p.m., Watt Family Innovation Center

Friday, March 1:

  • Clemson University FoodFORWARD Research Symposium
    Food researchers from across campus will give expert talks.
    9-11:30 a.m., Watt Family Innovation Center
  • Adobe Creative Jam
    This one-hour design showcase highlights the work of three creative leaders. At the same time, hand-picked designers will be competing in the Creative Jam tournament, a three-hour design charrette showdown.
    12–4 p.m., Watt Family Innovation Center
  • Southern Margins International Short Film Festival
    This screening presents amateur and professional short films from across the globe.
    7-10 p.m., Watt Family Innovation Center
  • Na Ni Chen Dance Company*
    The dances of Nai-Ni Chen fuse the dynamic freedom of American modern dance with the grace and splendor of Asian art. The company’s productions take the audience beyond cultural boundaries to where tradition meets innovation and freedom arises from discipline.
    7:30-9:30 p.m., Brooks Center for the Performing Arts
    *Tickets required
  • A Patient Search: Paintings by Tom Dimond artist talk and reception will occur prior to the Nai Ni Chen performance.
    5:30-7 p.m., Brooks Center Lobby

Saturday, March 2:

  • Clemson Food Summit
    The Food Summit is a community-run event that seeks to build a movement of individuals that care about the who, what, when, and where of the food they eat. This means supporting South Carolina’s sustainable and equitable regional food system through education, advocacy, and storytelling.
    10 a.m.–3 p.m., Watt Family Innovation Center
