The Class of ’55 Exchange, Home of Clemson Ice Cream, is holding a special event geared at teaching the public about the Pledge of Allegiance. This year’s “I Pledge for Ice Cream” is slated for 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday, July 3, with free ice cream for children 12 and under.  The Class of ’55 Exchange ice cream shop is located in the Clemson University Hendrix Student Center, 720 McMillan Road, Clemson, S.C. 29631.

Allison Butterbaugh, of the Clemson Food, Nutrition and Packaging Science Department, encourages everyone to come out and learn some history while eating delicious Clemson ice cream.

“This will be a self-guided event focusing on the historical perspective of the Pledge of Allegiance,” Butterbaugh said. “Materials with information about the Pledge of Allegiance will be available for participants to view at their leisure.”

Children 12 and under will receive a free scoop of Clemson ice cream in a cup or a cake cone during this event. Directions to the ’55 Exchange are available at http://bit.ly/ClemsonIceCream.
